Self care Blog – changing of the seasons

This is a post I wrote last year at this time. Enjoy!

It is a Saturday night after Bonfire night. It IS my favourite season:

the air. Just a slight coolness to it, it is fresh

the colours. Golden, orange, yellow, browns. Rich!

the smells. Damp grass, leaves, moisture, dew

the sunsets. Just beautiful

the dark. It is a blanket and comes down quickly

Then I open a book I have purchased sent from The Boozy Book Club. It is The Comfort Book by Matt Haig, and it is divine. The box contains of course the book, which I will read ahead of the zoom in a couple of weeks’ time. It also contains the makings of a Southern Comfort and Ginger Beer, THE most delicious smelling candle containing cinnamon and a lovely looking facemask and promise of a yoga session online further down the month.

I was part of a zoom with Matt Haig when he was on the Boozy Book Club promoting The Midnight Library, so I am super excited, but this is more than that.

SELF CARE – I am inhaling the smells, the colours, the sense that I have purchased this FOR ME.

The feeling of being ‘cooried in’ – cosy – the Scandinavians call it Hygge.

As a therapist, self-care is crucial so I am pleased that I have taken the steps to order this, put it in my calendar and look forward to it.

As an individual, self-care is crucial – what are you doing/have done to look after yourself, give yourself a hug, a warm glow. What DOES it for you? Get in touch on my social media if you would like to comment on this post or on anything else. Would love to hear from you!

With all my warmest, cosiest wishes

Debbie
